Toyota showcased a teaser reflecting the silhouette of a new truck at an event held in Belgium. The premiere of the bZ4X, C-HR+, and Lexus RZ models took place at the event. It is speculated that the pickup shown in the teaser is not related to the upcoming electric Hilux.
Toyota plans to introduce six new electric vehicles in Europe by 2026.
The pickup in the teaser features a double cab, distinguishing it from the electric Hilux prototype unveiled in 2023. This Hilux model will be produced in Thailand, as fuel-powered pickups account for more than half of Toyota's sales there. Additionally, the silhouette in the teaser does not resemble the electric Hilux currently being tested in Australia.
At the same time, the pickup silhouette is very similar to the Toyota EPU Concept 2023 design. It represents a mid-sized electric pickup that is close in dimensions to the Ford Maverick. This concept vehicle stands out with a customizable tailgate that allows for an increase in the length of the cargo area and a deeply positioned instrument panel.
Toyota is expected to launch this model in 2027. In the same year, rumors circulated about the company's plans to also turn the Corolla model into a pickup. It was mentioned as a model that would sit one step below the Hilux and compete with the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz.
