The peace talks in Gaza were halted due to Israel's withdrawal
The negotiations for establishing a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip have stalled due to disagreements over the complete withdrawal of Israeli military forces from the area. This was reported by Zamin.uz. According to Reuters, Palestinian and Israeli sources have indicated that the indirect negotiations taking place in Doha are complex. The parties have been participating in negotiations for a week regarding the 60-day ceasefire plan proposed by the United States. U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed hope for significant achievements in the coming days. On Saturday in Gaza, 17 people were shot dead while attempting to receive food aid. Local medical personnel described this incident as another bloody event occurring during the aid distribution process. According to UN data, at least 800 people have died in such incidents over the past six weeks. Witnesses reported that the gunfire was aimed at the head and chest. While the Israeli army stated that warning shots were fired, investigations emphasize that no one was harmed by soldier's fire. Delegations from Israel and HAMAS are trying to reach an agreement on the gradual withdrawal of military forces, the release of hostages, and the conclusion of the war in the Qatari capital. However, the negotiations have stalled. The Israeli side accuses HAMAS of obstructing the agreements, while HAMAS claims that the demands put forward by Israel are complicating the negotiations. According to Palestinian sources, HAMAS rejected the maps presented by Israel. It is reported that even after the planned withdrawal of military forces, approximately 40 percent of Gaza, including southern Rafah and northern and eastern areas, will remain under Israeli control. HAMAS is demanding a return to the existing lines prior to the attacks in March. Thousands of people in Israel have protested in Tel Aviv, calling on the government to reach a swift agreement for the release of hostages still held by HAMAS. Protest participant Boaz Levi stated, “Our friends, our brothers are in Gaza. Now is the time to end this war. That is why we are standing here,” he said. According to Gaza's health authorities, over 57,000 Palestinians have died as a result of Israeli military actions, and more than two million people have been forced to leave their homes.

The US has increased tariffs on Mexico and Europe
The US has increased tariffs on Mexico and Europe
US President Donald Trump announced that a 30 percent tariff will be imposed on products imported from Mexico and the European Union starting August 1. This was reported by Zamin.uz. This decision was made due to the unsuccessful conclusion of negotiations with major trading partners of the US. These tariffs could directly affect US trade relations with the European Union and Mexico. Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum recommended a calm approach to such threats and emphasized that the country's sovereignty should never be a subject of negotiation. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the tariffs would negatively impact transatlantic economic relations and expressed readiness to take countermeasures if necessary. Additionally, Trump has sent similar letters to 23 other countries, warning that tariffs could range from 20 percent to 50 percent. Among these countries are Canada, Japan, and Brazil. This situation is likely to create new tensions in global trade relations. The restrictions imposed by the US government are expected to lead to new discussions in the trade sector.

In Chinaz, a brother was found guilty of killing his sister
A court proceeding related to a serious criminal case involving domestic violence and financial disputes has concluded in Tashkent region. This was reported by Upl.uz. The jury acknowledged that a 26-year-old man living in Chinaz district was guilty of killing his 30-year-old sister. This incident occurred in February of this year. The family, consisting of a mother, son, and daughter, lived in one house, but their relationships were fraught with conflicts. The deceased woman, a mother of two, was divorced and often quarreled with her brother and mother over financial issues. During the trial, the suspect admitted his guilt, stating that the unpaid loan taken out in his sister's name was the initial cause of their conflict. He mentioned that the debt issue created a tense atmosphere in the family. In court, the man said that after his sister returned from a night out, he argued with her and accidentally inflicted a wound on her neck while trying to take a knife from her hand. He expressed that he lost control when he saw the blood. However, forensic examination revealed that the sister had approximately sixty stab and cut wounds on her body. After the crime, the suspect wrapped his sister's body in a carpet, took it to the balcony of the house, and left it there for a week. The body was later discovered by law enforcement agencies. Taking into account the testimonies of witnesses and the conclusions of the expert examination, the court classified the man's actions under Article 97, Part 2, Clause "j" of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan, which pertains to intentional murder with special cruelty. As a final verdict, the court sentenced the defendant to eight years in a general regime colony. Article 97, Part 2 provides for a punishment of 15 to 25 years or life imprisonment when intentional murder is committed with aggravating circumstances. The eight-year sentence indicates that the court considered some mitigating circumstances, although they were not fully disclosed in the public sources of the case. This court proceeding serves as a reminder of the potential consequences that family disputes and financial problems can lead to within a household.

Children drowned in the water basin without supervision
Children drowned in the water basin without supervision
With the start of the summer swimming season, a number of tragic incidents involving children have been reported in the capital. This was reported by Upl.uz. According to official information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Republic Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance, there were seven drowning incidents in private residential areas, resulting in the death of two minors. In each recorded case, the main reason was that the children were left alone near pools filled with water without proper adult supervision. In two cases, the children lost their lives before medical personnel arrived. When the ambulance teams arrived, biological death was confirmed, and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. The remaining five children were hospitalized in serious condition. All of them were in a coma and were connected to artificial respiration devices to maintain vital functions. Children's resuscitator Alisher Mustakimov provided additional information about the condition of those hospitalized in an interview with the Millar information program. According to him, three children regained consciousness, and their condition stabilized, allowing for their transfer from the resuscitation department to the preventive department. The other two children, however, remain in a deep coma. Their duration on the artificial respiration apparatus ranged from three to seven days. The doctor specifically emphasized that not only large pools but also small inflatable or framed pools pose a danger to children. A water depth of 30-40 centimeters can also be fatal for young children. Children under five years old have not fully developed coordination of movements. If a child slips and falls, they often cannot lift their head above the water surface. At that moment, the reflex breathing can lead to liquid entering the airways, causing oxygen deprivation and asphyxia. The consequences of this condition can be irreversible. In one case, the resuscitation team worked continuously for 40 minutes to restore heart function. The doctor noted that such prolonged hypoxia, meaning a lack of oxygen to the brain, significantly reduces the chances of complete recovery of the central nervous system. Even if survival occurs, there is a high probability of developing severe disabilities. Representatives of the medical and law enforcement agencies urge parents and guardians to maintain constant vigilance in ensuring children's safety. They emphasize that any water body, even the smallest one in a home yard, is a danger zone and that children must be under constant supervision. Drowning incidents often do not occur as depicted in movies. Especially, a child can drown silently and quickly, unable to call for help, as all their strength is spent trying to breathe underwater. The process from submersion to complete brain damage can occur within minutes. Therefore, it is crucial to supervise children near water at all times for their safety.

Foreign specialists are choosing to work in Uzbekistan
In recent years, a significant portion of foreign specialists who have relocated to Uzbekistan have expressed their intention to continue their professional activities in the country in the near future. This was reported by Upl.uz. According to the latest research conducted by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms and IT Park, 82 percent of relocated specialists plan to continue working in Uzbekistan. This research allowed for the formation of a general portrait of specialists who are new to the country. Typically, they are skilled professionals with an average age of around 38. Most of them are officially married, and 40 percent have children under the age of 16. This indicates that the relocation has a family character and is not a short-term labor migration. These figures confirm that incoming personnel view Uzbekistan as a favorable place for long-term living. The research also identified a high level of satisfaction with work and living conditions. 81 percent of the surveyed specialists are willing to recommend Uzbekistan for relocation to their colleagues and acquaintances. This indicator reflects the country's positive image in the international labor market, especially in the fields of information technology and highly skilled sectors. This data confirms the trend of Uzbekistan becoming a regional hub for skilled personnel. Specialists are finding not only opportunities for career development here but also viewing it as a favorable environment for long-term living with their families. This is expected to have a positive impact on the future development of the local economy and the technological sector.

Zomin kazan patir is in the list of geographical names
A new name has been added to the list of intellectual property objects of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz. The Intellectual Property Agency officially confirmed that the name "Zomin kazan patir" has been included in the state register of geographical indicators. This product is the twentieth object in the country to have such status. Registration of the name provides legal protection, ensures the reliable origin of the product, and establishes strict quality requirements. From now on, the use of the name "Zomin kazan patir" for bread products made outside the designated geographical area or in violation of the recipe is illegal. According to the agency, Zomin kazan patir is a unique type of bread, and its history is linked to the Zomin district of Jizzakh region. Its distinguishing feature is not only the ancient recipe but also the unique preparation method. The product is baked in a pot, which differs from the majority of traditional Uzbek breads that are baked in a tandoor. Only local products—milk and butter—are used for the dough, giving the patir its distinctive taste and texture. Granting geographical indication status is aimed at preserving the region's cultural and gastronomic heritage. This measure helps protect local producers and guard against product counterfeiting and unfair competition. At the same time, consumers will have the opportunity to be confident in purchasing genuine and quality products. Unlike traditional Uzbek breads, Zomin kazan patir is prepared in an inverted iron pot instead of a brick tandoor. The dough is spread on the heated bottom of the pot, creating a special layered structure and a unique crispy crust. This method gives the product a distinctive appearance and taste.

Permanent registration in Tashkent will be canceled
Permanent registration in Tashkent will be canceled
Starting from October 12, 2025, the special registration procedure for permanent residence in Tashkent city and Tashkent region will be canceled. This was reported by Zamin.uz. From now on, a unified notification-based registration system for residence and place of stay will be implemented in all regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The system of registration is fundamentally changing based on the law "On the registration of citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreign citizens, and stateless persons by their place of residence and place of stay," signed by the President on July 10, 2025. This law will come into force on October 12, 2025. Thus, the law that defines the categories of citizens who must be registered for permanent residence in Tashkent city and region will be effectively canceled. Previously, there were 12 categories of citizens allowed to reside permanently in the capital and region. According to the new law, the registration procedure for residence and place of stay will change from "permission" to "notification." This expands the right of citizens to move freely across the country and reduces bureaucratic barriers. Citizens are required to register at their new address. The responsibility in this regard is placed on the citizen and the property owner who allocated the place for residence. The registration period is set as follows. Citizens of Uzbekistan, as well as foreign citizens permanently residing in Uzbekistan and stateless persons, must register within 10 working days from the day they arrive at their new place of residence or stay. Citizens of Uzbekistan permanently residing abroad must register within 10 working days from the day they enter Uzbekistan. Foreign citizens and stateless persons who do not permanently reside in Uzbekistan are required to register within 3 working days from the day they enter the country, unless otherwise specified in international agreements. The registration process is carried out online through migration and citizenship offices, public service centers, or the my.gov.uz portal. When registering children, the residence address of one of the parents is taken as the basis, and the consent of the property owner is not required. Those living on a rental basis do not need to obtain the property owner's consent when registering based on a rental agreement registered with tax authorities. Failure to register at the place of residence does not prevent the registration of the citizen at their place of stay. Applications submitted for registration must be reviewed within one working day. If a person continues to reside after the registration period at their place of stay has expired, they must re-register within 10 working days. The designated social norm for the area of residence is taken into account during registration. This serves to prevent the registration of an excessive number of individuals at one location.

Putin will only meet with Zelensky if Ukraine surrenders
Putin will only meet with Zelensky if Ukraine surrenders
According to the words of Ukraine's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Kislitsa, Russian President Vladimir Putin is only agreeing to hold direct negotiations with Vladimir Zelensky on the condition that Ukraine surrenders. This was reported by Zamin.uz. According to diplomatic sources, the Russian side's approach is completely ultimatum and leaves no room for balance in negotiations. Ukraine, on the other hand, is proposing to organize a summit to create a constructive environment and stop the war, but Moscow insists that Ukraine must surrender first, and only then should a meeting of leaders take place. Kislitsa believes that Ukraine will continue to organize a meeting between Zelensky and Putin under any circumstances. The reason is that all important decisions in Russia are made only with Putin's personal approval. Therefore, negotiation groups or delegations are merely for show and do not yield real results. Diplomatic experiences, particularly the Minsk processes, serve as a clear example of this. Despite meetings and negotiations, no significant achievements have been made. Russian diplomats are currently proposing meetings of specialists, exchanging phone numbers, and continuing communication. However, Ukraine assesses this tactic as an attempt to buy time and to appear sincere in front of the international community. Experts believe that Moscow is trying to maintain its geopolitical influence and lead Kyiv into a political crisis in this way. At the same time, the Ukrainian leadership is completely rejecting the idea of surrender. As a result, the situation surrounding the meeting between Zelensky and Putin is becoming increasingly complicated. Discussions about the summit may continue for a long time, but due to the completely conflicting views of the parties, it is difficult to expect a positive outcome from the negotiations. This situation may lead to the continuation of the war and delays in finding a political solution.

A fake residence was discovered in St. Petersburg
The Nevsky District Court of St. Petersburg found M.T. guilty of registering foreign citizens falsely, as reported by Upl.uz. The citizen was found guilty of registering seven citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan at her apartment, without any intention of providing them with actual residence. During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Tatyana Milokhod participated as a "receiving party" at the state and local service center in St. Petersburg, but did not actually take on such responsibility. She registered her address as the place of residence for seven citizens of Uzbekistan, fully aware that this information was incorrect. This significantly reduced the ability of government agencies to monitor compliance with migration legislation by foreigners. According to the court's ruling, M.T. was sentenced to 1.5 years of conditional imprisonment for half a year, during which a probation period was established. This decision aims to prevent violations of migration laws and strengthen state control.

The 12-year education system will be implemented in Uzbekistan
The 12-year education system will be implemented in Uzbekistan
The general secondary education system in Uzbekistan is undergoing fundamental changes. This was reported by Upl.uz. The country has officially begun implementing a 12-year education model. This was announced by the press service of the Ministry of Preschool and School Education. In the near future, a normative legal document confirming these innovations is expected to be signed. This decision was made as part of a comprehensive program to reform the education sector. The program was presented to the president on September 8 and envisions a systematic renewal of all stages from preschool to higher education. The transition to 12-year education is being carried out to align with international experience. The results of the PISA study conducted in 2022 showed that in 85% of countries considered leaders in education, the number of school years is exactly 12. The introduction of the new model will allow adapting curricula to international standards and also enable students to be well-prepared for subsequent stages of education and vocational training. The updated system structure will be as follows: the first year is designated as a preparatory stage for 6-year-old children, which is considered part of primary education. Primary education will last a total of 5 years, including 1 year of preparation and 4 years of primary school. The next stage is basic general secondary education, covering grades 5 to 9 and lasting 5 years. The final 2 years constitute complete general secondary education, which will be conducted in schools, academic lyceums, specialized military schools, or technical colleges. To ensure a smooth transition process and create the necessary infrastructure, about 3,600 new schools will be built and more than a thousand state kindergartens will be opened. It is precisely in these institutions that the updated preparatory program for the youngest students will be piloted. An interesting point is that information about the transition to 12-year education had been actively discussed on social networks since 2023. However, at that time, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education officially denied these claims, emphasizing that the 11-year education system was in effect. The current decision shows that approaches at the state level have been reconsidered and there is political will to implement large-scale reforms. In the history of independent Uzbekistan, a 12-year education system has existed before. From 2010 to 2017, education was organized based on a 9+3 scheme, where students who completed grade 9 were required to continue their studies at vocational colleges and academic lyceums.
