On May 9, a 5-kilometer running competition will be held in Tashkent with the participation of 2000 people. This was reported by the information service of the Tashkent City Internal Affairs Directorate.
In connection with this, in order to ensure safety, the movement of vehicles will be temporarily restricted on the following streets from 05:00 to 11:00:
- The section of Cho‘ponota Street from Bunyodkor Street to Shota Rustaveli Street;
- The adjacent Nurkhon, Arnasoy, Sa’di Sirojiddinov, and Bog‘ibuston streets.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and ask drivers to use alternative and detour routes,” the statement said.
It is noted that marathon participants will be given an envelope-letter designed to resemble a triangular front letter or with the surnames of the front-line soldiers written on it. On the back of the letter, the name of an Uzbek soldier who died in the war, a brief biography, or a quote will be included.
Each runner symbolically “delivers the letter to its owner” – they will stick it on a large memory board, and those who reach the finish line will also stick pieces of paper with the names of the soldiers, thus creating a memory wall.
