A video has circulated on social media suggesting that an object falling from the sky onto a house in the Bog‘ot district of Khorezm region may have been caused by an asteroid. The video clearly shows that a loud bang was heard before the incident, resulting in the roof of the house's entrance, namely the hallway, collapsing and being damaged.
However, the Khorezm region's Emergency Situations Department officially denied these reports. According to the department's information, the incident occurred on May 12 at 3:39 AM in the Yuksalish neighborhood of Bog‘ot district. It was reported that approximately 10 square meters of the roof in the hallway of the house collapsed, and the Internal Affairs Department and the special laboratory services of the Emergency Situations Department promptly arrived at the scene to conduct an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, no traces of space objects or explosive materials were found at the scene. Additionally, it was determined that there were two propane gas cylinders in the household. Furthermore, preliminary investigation conclusions suggest that the explosion may have occurred due to gas leaking and accumulating from the propane gas cylinder in the house.
According to the information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a special expertise has been appointed to determine the exact causes of the incident. A ministry representative emphasized that, depending on the type of explosion, gas may have leaked and accumulated in the room, and the ceiling could have been torn upwards as a result of the explosion.
It was reported that there were no injuries or casualties as the homeowners were sleeping outside at the time of the incident.
Thus, officials and experts emphasize that this situation is not related to an asteroid or other space objects, but rather there is a likelihood that safety requirements regarding the gas cylinder in the house were not followed. This situation serves as a reminder to the public to exercise maximum caution when using gas appliances and to strictly adhere to safety regulations.
