State Duma deputy Dmitriy Svişov commented on proposals to limit the number of legionnaires in the Russian Professional Football League (RPFL). This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He stated that he supports the initiative of the Ministry of Sports to reduce the number of foreign players in team rosters for the season. According to the deputy, there are currently difficulties in the economy and business sector.
Therefore, the measure to limit the number of legionnaires may be implemented temporarily, for one or two years. Once the situation stabilizes, it may be possible to reconsider the restrictions.
Previously, the former coach of the capital's "Lokomotiv" club and the Russian national team, Yuri Syomin, also expressed his views on this issue. These discussions are aimed at developing national football by regulating the number of legionnaires.
Additionally, the restrictions are expected to expand opportunities for local players in teams. Such changes in football are being closely monitored by athletes and specialists.
