Zenit's head coach Sergey Semak did not agree with the journalist's opinion at the press conference that the presence of many legionnaires in the team is causing Latin American football to develop. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that he is focused on the development of Russian football. Semak stated that the most important aspect for him as a coach is the level of competition.
According to him, the strongest players must participate in the team and the competition should be high. Semak recalled the situations from previous years when CSKA and Zenit won in European competitions, and the Russian national team showed good results.
He also noted that there were no restrictions on legionnaires during that time. Currently, in the teams where Semak is coaching, players like Batrakov and Tyukavin are performing as the best in their positions.
He also mentioned that in many countries there are no limits on legionnaires, and this does not hinder the clubs' performance and development. He pointed out that even in the strongest leagues, there are different types of restrictions for legionnaires.
As a reminder, on Sunday, the Zenit team played a 2:2 draw against Rubin away.
