Famous coach Stanislav Cherchesov commented on the most unusual mistake he made during his goalkeeping career. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This mistake is still remembered sometimes. In 1994, while defending the honor of Dresden's "Dinamo" team, Cherchesov decided to play with the ball in his penalty area.
He then intended to throw the ball forward but ended up directing it to a player from the opposing team "Borussia." The opponent scored a goal into the empty net.
That day, Cherchesov turned 31 years old. The "Dinamo" team lost 0:2.
Recalling those moments on the "Komment.Shou" program, Cherchesov said, "We are playing in Mönchengladbach on my birthday. The ball was passed to me from the center.
I took it on my chest, bounced it a few times, then fell while trying to throw it. Martin Dahlin scored into the empty net."
He continued, "I never admit my mistakes because I was named the best at the end of the season. Such situations happen to everyone; the main thing is to learn from them.
This mistake has not been repeated after me. If it were to be repeated, it would be a serious mistake.
I have always looked at it with humor. I went onto the field in the next game, our team won, and all the problems were solved," he said.
This incident has remained an important lesson in Cherchesov's professional career.
