Tonight, the Portugal Super Cup final match will take place. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
In this contest, the teams "Benfica" and "Sporting" will compete against each other. However, the "Benfica" club expressed dissatisfaction with the selection of referee Fabio Verissimo for the match.
According to the club's press service, Verissimo ranked fourth in the Portugal referees' ranking last year. "Benfica" emphasizes that he has officiated at least six matches involving "Sporting" and made serious mistakes in at least two of those matches.
As a result of these mistakes, the outcome changed in favor of "Sporting." Additionally, Verissimo has only officiated "Benfica" matches twice, and in both cases, "Benfica" lost.
Furthermore, he did not award a penalty for "Sporting" in the last match between "Benfica" and "Sporting," resulting in "Benfica" losing. For this reason, the club is stating that the referee selection was unfair.
Despite these objections, the final match is expected to be held at the scheduled time.
