«Sion» club midfielder Anton Miranchuk shared his personal experience regarding the negative attitude towards Russians in Switzerland. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, during his time playing in this country, he did not encounter any negative attitudes or instances of Russophobia towards Russians. Miranchuk stated that fewer people approach him or talk to him on the street in Switzerland.
He is not in the spotlight as much as he is in Moscow. After leaving the stadium following a match, there are always machines selling food and drinks.
There is always a friendly atmosphere on the field, even if «Sion» loses. Miranchuk emphasized that the attitude towards him is very good and warm.
Additionally, Miranchuk pointed out the local population's attitude towards English-speaking individuals. According to him, people look at someone speaking English differently, even strangely.
It seems that speaking English here is considered inappropriate. Switzerland is a multilingual country.
The official languages in this country are German, French, Italian, and Romansh. Therefore, the majority of the population communicates in these languages and uses English less frequently.
Miranchuk noted that he feels comfortable and safe in Switzerland.
