Flik sees Erik Garcia only as a defender

The head coach of the "Barcelona" team, Hans-Dieter Flick, is not planning to field Erik Garcia in an unusual position. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.

Last season, although the Spanish player was primarily recognized as a central defender, he also played in the midfield in many matches. However, in the new season, the coach does not intend to test Garcia as a midfielder.

This is explained by the presence of sufficiently experienced and established midfielders in the team. Erik Garcia participated in a total of 45 matches for "Barcelona" in the 2024/2025 season.

He managed to score five goals and provide three assists. The 24-year-old player's current contract with the club will expire in the middle of next year.

Although no clear decision has been made regarding Garcia's future, the coach prefers to rely more on his defensive capabilities. As a result of changes in the team composition, Garcia will continue to play in his primary position.
