Lepyoxin: "Zenit" did not start the season successfully, it's not a tragedy
Former “Zenit” football player Konstantin Lepyoxin shared his thoughts on the start of the current season for “Zenit” in an exclusive interview with the online publication “Evro-Futbol.Ru”. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
He emphasized that “Zenit” did not start this season successfully, but this situation cannot be considered a tragedy. In his opinion, other strong teams, including CSKA, “Spartak,” and “Dinamo,” also did not start the season successfully, yet they will still remain among the leaders.
“Zenit” has not managed to keep a clean sheet in any of the four matches played this season. However, this does not worry Lepyoxin, as the team plays attacking football and always strives to control the ball.
Therefore, if the defense is open, opportunities arise for the opponents. If “Zenit” plays defensively, there may be fewer goals conceded, but they will also score fewer goals themselves.
The actions of goalkeeper Latyshonov were also discussed. According to Lepyoxin, being a goalkeeper is not easy, and he could have saved his team in the last match against CSKA.
Lepyoxin particularly highlighted Vendel from the team. Despite not being with the team for two months, he remains one of the best players, works hard, and rarely loses the ball.
When evaluating Jerson's performance, Lepyoxin noted that he has not yet come to a definite conclusion and that time is needed to give a clear assessment. Regarding the issue of loaning Glushenkov to the “Sochi” team, Lepyoxin pointed out that the decision of the player, the head coach, and the club management is important in this matter.
If Glushenkov is loaned out, it will be difficult for him to find a place in the starting lineup. He mentioned the match against “Rubin” as the most disappointing game at the start of the season.
