Vladimir Bystrov, a former player of the Russian national team, supported the proposal to tighten restrictions on the number of legionnaires. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, starting from the next season, a “10+5” limit may be introduced for clubs. This means that each club can include a maximum of 10 legionnaires in its squad for one season, and there cannot be more than 5 legionnaire players on the field at the same time.
Bystrov believes that such restrictions will yield positive results. He emphasized that he is in favor of setting limits on the number of legionnaires.
He stated that this would increase attention to local football schools and allocate more funds for the development of children's and youth football. Bystrov also noted that, in the absence of international official games, it is necessary to seriously think about and work on children's and youth football.
Currently, clubs in the Russian Premier League can register 13 legionnaires in one season and field 8 of them at the same time. According to the proposed new regulations, these numbers will decrease.
Bystrov believes that with the right approach, these restrictions will yield positive results.
