Football expert Aleksandr Tarkhanov expressed his thoughts on the unsuccessful performances of the “Zenit” team at the beginning of the season in an interview with the “Euro-Football” online publication. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to Tarkhanov, “Zenit” won only once in the first four rounds of the Russian championship. This is not a good result for the team.
Tarkhanov stated that “Zenit” has always fought for the championship, but now they are forced to catch up with their rivals. In his opinion, the team lacks speed in the game, there are few dangerous situations in attack, they are trying to control the ball more, but sharp passes forward are insufficient.
The expert emphasized that the reason for this problem should be asked from the club management. Tarkhanov also commented on the capabilities of head coach Sergey Semak.
According to him, results are required, but Semak is being trusted because he has made the team champions several times. Tarkhanov believes that perhaps the team needs a generational change or new players.
The expert also mentioned that the attitude of the players towards the game may also be affecting the results. Some players' motivation has decreased, while others may no longer match the level of the team.
Such situations occur in the lives of many clubs. Tarkhanov also shared his thoughts on the “Akhmat” team and its head coach Stanislav Cherchesov.
He stated that Cherchesov is an experienced coach and can quickly improve the team's performance. “Akhmat” will not fight for the lower positions this season.
In the next round, there will be a match between “Zenit” and “Spartak”. Neither team can afford to lose points.
Tarkhanov emphasized that both teams currently have equal strength, and there are problems in defense and attack. He also did not rule out the possibility of coaching changes in both clubs.
