Boris Rapoport, a specialist who was previously the head coach of St. Petersburg's "Zenit" team, expressed his opinion on the rumors regarding Sergey Semak's resignation. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, Semak is capable of fulfilling his duties as a coach. Rapoport stated that Semak appears to be mentally exhausted from his appearance, but he has always been a player with a strong character and is currently active as such a coach.
Rapoport emphasized that simply relieving Semak of his position would be a significant injustice. Sergey Semak has been managing the "Zenit" team since 2018.
During this time, he was able to turn the team into a leading club in Russian football. Under Semak's leadership, "Zenit" became the country champion six times in a row, won the Supercup five times, and the Russian Cup twice.
However, last season, the Russian championship was won by the "Krasnodar" team. The start of the new season has not been successful for "Zenit."
After four rounds, the team led by Sergey Semak has only collected five points and is currently in eighth place in the league table. In the next round, "Zenit" will travel to Moscow to face the "Spartak" team at the "Lukoyl Arena" stadium on August 16.
