Aleksey Chistyakov, the "PSJ" goalkeeper Matvey Safonov's first coach, shared his thoughts on the player's decision to stay in France despite the arrival of Luc Shevalye to the team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
The specialist emphasized that he views the situation differently, but Safonov is a mature person who makes decisions independently. According to Chistyakov, Matvey believes in his opportunity and hopes to overcome Shevalye in the competition, as Shevalye's reputation is not as high as Donnarumma's.
At the same time, the coach reminded Safonov that a starting goalkeeper position at "PSJ" is not guaranteed. In Chistyakov's opinion, if Safonov manages to become the starting goalkeeper at "PSJ," the decision to stay in France will be justified.
Safonov has set high goals for himself and believes in himself. Last season, the 26-year-old Russian player played 17 matches across all competitions and kept a clean sheet in seven of those matches.
These results demonstrate his professional level. Safonov's future career is being closely followed by fans and specialists.
