Dino Baggio recalled the golden era of Italian football

Former member of the Italian national team, Dino Baggio, shared interesting memories about Serie A football in the nineties of the last century. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In his opinion, at that time, the Italian championship was considered the center of world football, and all strong players dreamed of playing exactly here. Today, there may still be many high-level footballers, but back then, every legionnaire who came to Italy was considered a true world-class star.
Clubs also set very strict requirements when forming their squads and selected only the cream of the crop. As Dino Baggio noted, Serie A was unparalleled in the world in terms of competitiveness at that time.
Italian football was experiencing its true golden age. Recalling the bright stars of those years, he specifically recognized the achievements of legendary Dutch players like Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, and Frank Rijkaard who played for AC Milan, as well as German masters such as Lothar Matthäus, Andreas Brehme, and Jürgen Klinsmann in the Inter squad.
Furthermore, Brazilian players like Zico and Paulo Futre, who played on Italian fields in the eighties, also set the level of the championship. According to Dino Baggio's interview with AS publication, Ballon d'Or winners at that time preferred to play specifically in the Italian championship.
Today, however, the situation has fundamentally changed. The strongest current footballers more often choose the Spanish, English, or French championships.
Italian football, meanwhile, needs serious changes to restore its former prestige. Through his memories, Baggio highlighted the vast difference between modern football and the past, recalling the grandeur of the Italian championship during that era.
