Experienced specialist Gian Piero Gasperini, who managed “Atalanta” for nine years and turned the team into a serious competitor in Italian and European football, will now continue his career at “Roma.” He took over the management of the Romans from the famous coach Claudio Ranieri.
It has been revealed that not only “Roma” but also other leading clubs in Italy showed interest in Gasperini. In particular, the superclub of Turin, “Juventus,” also tried to attract the experienced specialist to their squad.
However, according to information circulated by journalist Sandro Sabatini, the behavior of Juventus' sports director, Damiano Comolli, did not sit well with Gasperini. Interestingly, Comolli called the coach and said: “Convince me why Juventus should choose you as the head coach! Why should we choose you?” Gasperini responded to these words in a very firm and honorable manner: “You made the call, not me. So, it’s you who believes in the choice,” and ended the conversation.
As a result, the 67-year-old Italian specialist accepted the offer from “Roma” and signed a contract that will last until mid-2028. Now a complete renewal period begins at “Roma.”
After Gasperini's arrival, significant changes in the team’s roster are also expected. In this process, the fate of the Uzbek forward Eldor Shomurodov will certainly be of great importance. His position at “Roma” may strengthen or weaken with the change of coaches.
