
The president of the Russian Football Federation, Maksim Mitrofanov, provided information about the format of the Premier League competition during a conversation with media representatives. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, as a result of negotiations with the league and clubs, it was decided to hold the competition with the participation of 16 clubs. This number was established as the main limitation and priority.
At the same time, the start date of the new season is scheduled for July 18.
Last season, the gold medals in the Russian championship went to the "Krasnodar" team. The second place was taken by St. Petersburg's "Zenit," who were only one point behind the leader.
The top three was completed by the Central Sports Club of the Army, or CSKA. Following them were "Spartak," "Dinamo," and "Lokomotiv."
