Shamil Gazizov, the general director of the "Dinamo" football club in Makhachkala, commented on the opinions circulating about tightening restrictions on the number of legionnaires. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, changing the existing restrictions is not advisable. Gazizov emphasized that the more foreign players there are in the Russian Premier League (RPL), the more our championship will develop and improve in quality.
He also stated that he supports the arrival of foreign players in the RPL. This, in turn, helps to raise the level of competition.
According to the general director of "Dinamo," competing with highly qualified foreign players will further develop local players for both the Russian national team and the Premier League. Currently, RPL clubs can register 13 legionnaires for the season.
However, only eight foreign players can be on the field at the same time. There are also discussions about the possibility of significantly tightening restrictions on the number of legionnaires in the future.
This is seen as a matter related to the league's development strategy.
