Real Madrid goalkeeper Andrey Lunin faced severe criticism for using the term "semifinal" in Russian while in Ukraine. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Deputy Dmitriy Svişchov from the State Duma of Russia commented on this situation. According to him, a majority of Ukrainian citizens consider Russian to be their mother tongue, and there is nothing shameful about it.
Every person has the right to freely choose the language they speak at home. Svişchov emphasized that while Ukraine considers itself a state governed by the rule of law, it should have protected its citizen, but this is not the case.
Andrey Lunin has played in 62 official matches for Real Madrid, conceding 70 goals in these games. His current contract with the Madrid club is valid until the end of the 2029/2030 season.
Therefore, the goalkeeper will continue his career in the team. This situation is causing significant discussions regarding language issues in the fields of sports and politics.
The relationship between Ukraine and Russia remains a constant focus, and language policy is leading to sharp debates among the public.
