The "Orenburg" team has been readmitted to the Russian Premier League by the decision of the executive committee of the Russian Football Federation. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Specifically, the "Orenburg" team took the place of "Torpedo" in the top division, as the "Torpedo" team was disqualified for attempting to organize fixed matches. The president of the Russian Premier League, Aleksandr Alaev, commented on this decision.
According to Alaev, the option of holding the 2025/2026 season with 15 teams was viewed negatively, as it could have a detrimental effect on the season's schedule and structure. The "Orenburg" team has obtained the necessary license to participate in the Premier League, fully meets the league's requirements, and has experience.
Therefore, even though there is little time left before the championship begins, there is confidence in the quality organization of the team's games and the season. In the first round of the new season, "Orenburg" will play against the CSKA team at home.
The match will take place on July 21, Monday. It is worth noting that in the spring, "Orenburg" finished in 15th place in the Premier League and was directly relegated.
However, due to problems with the "Himki" and "Torpedo" teams, "Orenburg" managed to remain in the top division.
