63-year-old specialist Yan Urban has been appointed as the head coach of the Poland national team. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
This was announced by the official website of the Polish Football Association. As a player, Urban was a three-time Polish champion and achieved numerous successes with the "Gurnik" team.
He played 57 matches for the national team and participated in the 1986 World Cup. He also played for foreign teams such as "Osasuna."
After transitioning to coaching, Urban led the "Legia" team to win the Polish championship and Cup twice. In 2008, he served as an assistant to the head coach of the Poland national team, Leo Beenhakker, during the European Championship.
The previous coach, Michal Probierz, left the team after resigning due to a disagreement with striker Robert Lewandowski a month ago. The appointment of the new head coach is considered one of the important steps for the future successes of the national team.
