OpenAI company introduces new GPT-5.6 artificial intelligence model

OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, is preparing to release its new GPT-5.6 artificial intelligence model to the general public on July 9, Zamin.uz reported.
Originally scheduled for June, the event was delayed due to additional security concerns raised by U.S. officials, according to Deutsche Welle.
All technical tests have been completed successfully, and following discussions between company leadership and U.S. authorities, the White House has granted permission to launch the model. OpenAI representatives describe the new GPT-5.6 as the most complete and powerful system ever developed by the company.
The model is expected to offer significant capabilities in cybersecurity, biological research, and autonomous execution of complex tasks. The delay stems from growing concerns in Washington about the potential misuse of advanced technologies for illegal or harmful purposes.
In June, the White House also ordered Anthropic, a competitor of OpenAI, to temporarily suspend the operation of its most advanced models from a national security perspective. These restrictions were only recently lifted.
U.S. officials believe modern AI systems can identify vulnerabilities in software, which could be exploited by foreign intelligence services for malicious purposes.
As a result, the government asked OpenAI to voluntarily delay the release. While the company agreed, it emphasized that such reviews should not become a permanent bureaucratic obstacle.
At the same time, the Washington administration is strengthening security measures. Although former President Donald Trump had previously supported reducing AI restrictions, he acknowledged that excessive requirements could harm the country’s technological standing.
However, in June, a new executive order was signed aimed at reducing cybersecurity risks.
It recommends that developers submit their models for government review one month before public release. OpenAI stated it is prepared to maintain ongoing cooperation with government agencies in future model launches.
According to the company, the GPT-5.6 model to be unveiled on July 9 will be available in three versions. The Sol version is described as the most powerful, while the Terra version is optimized for everyday tasks.
The announcement has generated significant interest among experts and users in the field.
