A "murder predictive" program is being tested in Britain - human rights organizations are concerned
A new and controversial program has been launched in Great Britain — it aims to identify individuals who are likely to commit murder in the future based on their personal information. According to The Guardian, this initiative was established during the tenure of former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Murder predicting algorithms? This project, carried out by the Ministry of Justice, analyzes individuals' passport information, health, arrest records, involvement in criminal cases, behavior, weapon possession experience, and even instances of self-harm. Additionally, information about victims who have sought help from the police is also included in the algorithm. In other words, individuals who have come to the attention of law enforcement for certain reasons are analyzed by a special system, and their likelihood of committing murder is assessed. Public safety or invasion of privacy? The British Ministry of Justice emphasizes that this program is being launched for research purposes and aims to ensure public safety. However, human rights activists are evaluating this initiative as "frightening" and unreliable. The organization Statewatch has also submitted a request based on the freedom of information law regarding this program. Experts recall that similar projects have been implemented before, but they have exacerbated racial, social, and financial discrimination. Is there a basis for concern? Algorithms, of course, are based on data. However, predicting how individuals will behave in the future remains a contentious issue. Moreover, the extensive analysis of personal data could further escalate debates about privacy and freedom of speech in British society.

Due to Trump's tariffs, the price of the iPhone may increase by 30 percent
Apple's new smartphones may increase in price by 30 percent due to the customs duties imposed by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. This was reported by Reuters. According to analysts surveyed by the agency, Apple may mitigate the negative impact of customs duties by raising the prices of its products, including the iPhone, by 30-40 percent. Nil Shah, head of Counterpoint Research, stated that Apple will be forced to raise prices by a third to cover import customs duties. It is noted that Apple has shifted part of its production from China to India and Vietnam, but these countries have also imposed respective customs duties of 26 and 46 percent. "Our forecast suggests that Apple will postpone a significant increase in smartphone prices until the fall, when the iPhone 17 is expected to be released," said analyst Angelo Zino. According to forecasts by analysts at Rosenblatt Securities, the price of Apple's cheapest smartphone — the iPhone 16e — could rise from $599 to $856. In turn, the price of the iPhone 16 could increase from $799 to $1142, while the flagship iPhone 16 Pro Max with 1 terabyte of storage could rise from $1599 to $2300. For the first time in the world, artificial intelligence has been admitted to a higher education institution. According to Euronews, a neural network named Flynn will study in the field of digital art. Flynn successfully passed the university's standard admission processes: he submitted a portfolio, participated in an interview, and took entrance exams. Interestingly, the artificial intelligence did not hide its non-human nature. However, this did not raise any doubts or resistance among the university teachers. “There is no written requirement that students must only be human. For specific reasons, no one has thought about this before,” said Liz Haas, head of the digital art department at the university. She noted that Flynn performed very well during the interview process and presented a high-level portfolio. The specialists who created Flynn stated that they plan to involve the artificial intelligence in classes and interactions with students to further improve it. He is expected to officially start his education from the fall semester, but is already participating in some classes. This event marks the beginning of a new era in education and clearly demonstrates how quickly artificial intelligence is integrating into human activities.

A revolutionary robot-horse has been presented in Japan: Corleo — a trailblazer conquering mountains and the future (video)
The famous Japanese company Kawasaki showcased the futuristic and technologically advanced transport vehicle — the Corleo robot horse concept at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025. This is not just a means of transport — it is a revolutionary robot with four legs that can move across any terrain and is equipped with artificial intelligence. A hero of a new era: artificial intelligence and hydrogen power The Corleo robot horse is equipped with a modern hydrogen engine and artificial intelligence (AI). Through AI, it analyzes the shape of the road, the degree of incline, and stability during movement, automatically coordinating its movement while considering the rider's weight. Four independent robotic legs — for any terrain The most remarkable feature of Corleo is its four intelligent legs. The hind legs move independently of the front legs, allowing for easy traversal over snowy mountains, rainy branches, or uneven plains. The efficiency of movement is maintained at a high level during walking and running. Functional design and interactive control The body of the robot horse is designed in an aerodynamic shape, made of metal and carbon. Its front part features a "shield-like" head reminiscent of a motorcycle, and its lights can illuminate in any conditions, day or night. The control system operates without traditional buttons — the robot senses the rider's shift in weight and responds accordingly. Advanced features of the device: Rubber "treads" – protection against slipping, equally effective on hard and soft surfaces; Dashboard – HUD display showing hydrogen power, navigation, stability, and center of gravity; Jumping ability – the capability to overcome high terrain and obstacles. When might it be released? Currently, this is presented only as a concept, and its technical aspects have not been fully disclosed. The company has announced that the release of Corleo to the real market is planned by 2050. Technical details such as speed and battery autonomy are still kept confidential. The future trailblazer — as envisioned today Kawasaki's Corleo robot horse is not just a means of transport, but a new way of interaction between humans and technology. Neuralink has started searching for new patients worldwide
Billionaire Elon Musk's Neuralink startup has begun searching for new patients for its next operations. Now there are no regional boundaries — an adult individual from anywhere in the world can become the next participant. Previously, applications were only accepted from residents of the USA, Canada, and the UK. The initial patients of Neuralink were individuals with paralysis or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and now volunteers with new diseases are being sought. The company has announced that it is looking for individuals affected by tetraplegia (where the main part of the body is paralyzed). A mandatory condition: the patient's both hands must not function due to a spinal cord injury. Applications can be submitted starting from April 2, 2025, through the official website of the laboratory. Within the framework of the experiment, a chip will be placed in the skull. A special manipulator will insert 64 thin fibers, which contain a total of 1024 electrodes. The manipulator robot connects the areas of the brain responsible for movement. Each fiber has a thickness of less than 4 micrometers and a length not exceeding 20 millimeters. The size of the chip itself is comparable to a coin. "The research involves placing a small, externally inconspicuous implant in the part of the brain responsible for movement. This device analyzes the neural activity of the individual, allowing them to control a computer or smartphone simply by thinking about movement. No wires or physical movements are required," the statement said. It is worth noting that in January 2024, the world's first human received a Neuralink brain implant. 29-year-old Noland Arbo became completely paralyzed as a result of an unfortunate accident that damaged his spinal cord. As a result of the installation of the Neuralink chip in Arbo's brain, he was able to control a computer using the power of thought.

The gap between the rich and the poor is widening due to artificial intelligence
The gap between the rich and the poor is widening due to artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) and the rapid development of automation are creating new opportunities in the global economy while also deepening the problem of global inequality. According to a report by the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), these technologies are expected to have a significant impact on the labor market worldwide over the next decade. 40 percent of jobs are at risk According to UNCTAD analyses, by 2033, the value of the artificial intelligence market could reach $4.8 trillion. While this technology can help increase productivity and accelerate digital transformation, it may also lead to negative consequences for the labor market. The report notes that automation could affect 40 percent of jobs worldwide. Experts emphasize that this process may result in an uneven distribution of economic benefits. In other words, artificial intelligence primarily serves the interests of capital owners and reduces the value of labor resources. This poses a serious problem, especially for developing countries, as their economies rely on cheap labor. Technological disparity and global inequality The development of technologies may further exacerbate global economic inequality. According to UNCTAD, 40 percent of the funds spent on research and development in artificial intelligence are accounted for by 100 companies primarily operating in the US and China. The market capitalization of technology giants like Apple, Nvidia, and Microsoft is equivalent to the gross domestic product of the entire African continent, which further increases the disparity in development levels between countries. Caution and initiative are necessary for developing countries The UNCTAD report emphasizes that developing countries should actively participate in shaping international normative and ethical standards for the development and governance of AI. The following measures are recommended by the UN: Ensuring transparency of data on artificial intelligence – having clear and open data to better understand the impact of AI technologies. Creating common infrastructure – expanding opportunities for the use of artificial intelligence. Supporting open artificial intelligence models – ensuring equitable distribution of technological resources. Promoting knowledge and resource exchange – creating opportunities for experience and knowledge sharing for developing countries. Is artificial intelligence a threat or an opportunity? According to the UNCTAD report, artificial intelligence can be one of the main drivers of technological progress, but this process must be implemented on the basis of fairness and equal opportunities. It is important for states and international organizations to collaborate in regulating AI and developing it through strategic investments. Today, as artificial intelligence increasingly permeates various aspects of human life, it is essential to closely monitor its economic and social impacts and develop appropriate and safe strategies for each country. Only then can technological development become a tool for creating equal opportunities and sustainable development.

Artificial intelligence has learned to deceive people
Artificial intelligence has learned to deceive people
As a result of extensive research conducted by scientists at the University of California, it has been determined that artificial intelligence (AI) has the ability to deceive people. Specifically, the GPT-4.5 model was able to convince 73% of participants in the Turing test that it was a real human. How was the research conducted? The research was carried out in San Diego. It involved four artificial intelligence systems (LLaMa-3.1−405B, GPT-4o, GPT-4.5, and ELIZA) and 284 participants. After a five-minute conversation, participants were tasked with identifying which of the two interlocutors was a bot. The test results were as follows: GPT-4.5 – convinced 73% of participants that it was a real human. LLaMA-3.1 – succeeded in 56% of cases. GPT-4o – was accepted as human by people in 21% of cases. ELIZA – managed to deceive 23% of participants. The secrets of GPT-4.5's success According to scientists, the GPT-4.5 model achieved the highest results through personalization. When AI presented itself as a young introvert aware of internet culture and jargon, people were more likely to trust it. If this adaptation process was not carried out, its success rate dropped to just 36%. Research conclusions and potential risks Experts emphasize that such results could lead to certain social risks. Artificial intelligence already has the capability to engage in written communication with people, which could be widely used in customer support services, social networks, and online communication platforms. Additionally, the emergence of romantic chatbots, fake friends, and automated trolling systems in real life is also being observed. However, there are also positive opportunities — new avenues are opening up for automating jobs that require communication. Passing the Turing test — is it a sign of "intelligence"? So far, no AI system has been able to consistently pass the classic three-party Turing test — in this test, AI must directly argue with a human. However, GPT-4.5 became the first artificial intelligence to achieve this. At the same time, scientists emphasize that such success does not mean that AI has remained "intelligent." Successfully passing the Turing test demonstrates not the cognitive abilities of artificial intelligence but its success in imitating humans. According to the research results, the impact of AI on human life may increase in the future. This indicates the need to develop new rules and laws regarding its application and regulation.

iPhone 17 lags behind competitors in durability
iPhone 17 lags behind competitors in durability
New mandatory durability tests introduced by the European Union have revealed serious shortcomings in Apple’s latest flagship, the iPhone 17 model. This was reported by Zamin.uz. Although the device’s battery has been significantly improved, its resistance to drops and external impacts was found to be lower than that of competing brands. According to GSMArena, the special labeling system introduced in the European Union determines the durability and repairability level of each electronic device. Based on tests conducted under this system, the iPhone 17 Pro Max was classified as Class B. This means the device can withstand approximately 180 drop tests. Last year’s iPhone 16 Pro Max was classified as Class C, showing durability only after 90 drops. Although this figure has doubled in the new model, it still lags behind leading competitors. For example, recent flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Google Pixel 10 Pro XL successfully passed 270 drop tests and were classified as the highest Class A. This indicates a higher risk of damage for Apple smartphones during daily use. Additionally, the iPhone Air Pro Max, which has a soft body, also recorded Class B results. In terms of repairability, the iPhone 17 also falls behind its competitors. The device was classified as Class S, the same as Samsung, while Google Pixel belongs to Class B and is considered better in terms of repairability. However, the iPhone 17 Pro Max battery has a high energy efficiency rating, classified as Class A, and its operating time has reached 53 hours. This figure is superior to many competitors. Nevertheless, Apple’s battery is designed for only 1000 charge cycles, whereas batteries in Samsung devices can last up to 2000 cycles. This effectively means twice the lifespan in practice.

So far, the details of the agreement have not been fully disclosed, but the parties continue to work on the final contract. In recent years, OpenAI has achieved significant revenue and aims to expand its activities internationally. Microsoft invested one billion dollars in OpenAI in 2019 and ten billion dollars in 2023. Initially, Microsoft offered OpenAI products only through its Azure platform, but now it is also collaborating with Oracle and Google. Changes in OpenAI's structure require approval from the US government. If this process is not completed by the end of the year, the company may suffer significant financial losses. At the same time, Microsoft is also placing great emphasis on independently developing its own artificial intelligence technologies. This serves to increase competitiveness in the technology sector. Overall, the new agreement opens the door to significant changes and new opportunities in the field of artificial intelligence.

The US and China agreed on TikTok operations
Negotiations between the US and China regarding TikTok's operations lasted for several months and have finally reached a major agreement. This was reported by Zamin.uz. According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, final decisions will be announced following dialogue between former US President Donald Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. This agreement is of great importance for TikTok's activities in the US, as in recent years the app has sparked debates over national security and the protection of personal data. Donald Trump emphasized in a statement on the Truth Social platform that the negotiations were productive. He described the agreement reached regarding the company popular among young people as a significant achievement. According to Trump, a major trade meeting between America and China in Europe was successful, and he plans to meet with President Xi Jinping on Friday. Under the terms of the agreement, TikTok will be reorganized with the participation of American investors, strict compliance with US national security requirements will be ensured, and control over data will be strengthened. Additionally, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is mentioned as a key buyer. According to Li Chenggang, head of the Chinese delegation, this agreement not only defines TikTok's future but also helps reduce barriers in trade and investment between the two countries. However, Beijing has openly stated that it will never agree to terms that contradict its national interests. TikTok and its main owner ByteDance have not yet commented on this matter. Nevertheless, without this agreement, it would have been difficult for the company to operate in the US. Therefore, this agreement is considered highly significant not only for the company but also for millions of users.
