At meetings held in August 2025, the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan reviewed important issues related to the activities of banks and financial institutions. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A total of 51 issues were discussed at the meetings of the Bank Supervision Committee, and specific decisions were made regarding them. In the area of registration and licensing, 32 issues were considered.
Within these matters, changes made to the charters of commercial banks and credit institutions were registered, new microfinance organizations were accounted for, and some institutions were removed from the register. Additionally, certificates granting the right to conduct audits in banks were issued, and candidates for the bank supervisory board and management were reviewed.
Furthermore, 19 issues concerning the financial stability of credit institutions and compliance with legislative requirements were discussed. Due to the failure to implement plans and schedules for recovering problematic loans and reducing their balances, as well as shortcomings and non-compliance with regulations identified in some banks, decisions were made to take measures and impose sanctions against 14 banks and 2 payment organizations.
Moreover, due to non-compliance with the Central Bank’s rules on combating money laundering and financing of terrorism, fines were imposed on 9 banks, 6 microfinance organizations, and 4 pawnshops. One of the most important decisions was the revocation of the license of one bank that failed to meet the minimum requirements for forming its charter capital.
