Tashkent and its surrounding green areas will be increased threefold
On May 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of planned renovation and investment projects in Tashkent city. This was reported by the President's press service.

By the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers, the master plan for Tashkent city, intended for the period until 2045, was approved. According to the master plan, our capital's territory is divided into three zones: conservation, reconstruction, and renovation.

In particular, the renovation zone includes old, low-rise houses and buildings that do not meet urban planning and earthquake resistance requirements. They are planned to be gradually removed, and the vacated area is intended to be rebuilt based on modern projects.

The presentation provided information about the plans in this regard.

As noted, the master plan identifies over 300 renovation sites. In the first phase, scheduled for 2025-2026, it is planned to implement 65 projects. This will enrich these areas functionally, improve conditions for the population, and beautify the surroundings. As a result, the gap between old and modern neighborhoods will gradually be reduced, and they will be harmonized with each other. Buildings will be constructed on smaller plots, preserving existing trees, and new green areas will be created.

The head of state instructed to thoroughly study the compatibility of these projects with urban architecture and infrastructure, and to improve safety based on geological and seismic analyses. He emphasized the need for residential areas to be in harmony with social institutions such as schools and kindergartens, as well as recreational facilities.

If the city's "lungs" are the green spaces, then the canals and ditches are its "blood vessels." By the President's directive, special attention has been paid to these issues in the new master plan. In particular, it is aimed to increase the green areas of Tashkent city and its surroundings threefold, reaching 25,000 hectares. This, in turn, requires improving water routes.

The presentation also discussed the new master plan's integrated system for the city's irrigation and drainage networks. According to this, by 2030, 100 kilometers of canals will be reconstructed, and recreational areas will be established around them.

Together with Turkey's Su-yapi engineering and consulting company, the problems in the drainage networks were studied. Based on aerial photography, geodesy, and precipitation analysis, a master plan for updating these networks was developed. Last year, 45 flood-prone areas were addressed. This year, similar work will be carried out in another 34 locations.

The President emphasized the need to continue these efforts, further expand their coverage, and train specialists in this field. The head of state was also informed about the status of investment projects in Tashkent city.

A total of 717 investment projects worth $25 billion have been formed in the capital. In 2025, it is planned to utilize $7.5 billion of this amount and launch 265 projects. As a result, residential buildings, trade, and entertainment complexes will be constructed, and industrial enterprises will be established.
