Ukrainian soldiers are at risk of encirclement in Kursk region

Russian Armed Forces units have seized the main supply routes of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region.

The British newspaper The Telegraph reported, citing sources and analysts in Ukraine, that Ukrainian soldiers are at risk of encirclement, with up to 10 thousand soldiers potentially left in a disastrous situation.

A Ukrainian Armed Forces sergeant, who gave an interview over the phone, said:
“The leadership is considering withdrawing troops from the Kursk region; otherwise, personnel losses may increase significantly. The risk of encirclement is indeed very serious.”

According to a report by analysts from the Ukrainian military project Deepstate, 3/4 of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the region are at risk. Maps indicate that most of them are almost completely encircled by Russian Armed Forces, and units have been broken into small groups.

The remaining Ukrainian Armed Forces in Russian territory are connected by a corridor only 1 km long and 500 m wide, but this area is also being shelled by Russian FPV drones.

At the same time, the Russian army is trying to seize the strategic road from Yunakovka in Sumy region to the city of Sudja in Kursk region.

According to Andrey Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, Russian forces are actively working to take control of this road and completely encircle Ukrainian forces.

The Russian army is attacking the city of Sudja in Kursk region

The Russian army has launched a direct attack on the city of Sudja. If this attack is successful, the Kursk region will fully return under Russian control.

According to the Telegram channel "Upravleniye Z", the military operation to push Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the border has reached its final stage. It should be noted that the Ukrainian army captured the city of Sudja in August 2024.

Now Russian forces are pushing enemy positions after extensive preparation. Attacks are being carried out from several directions across the city.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army is deploying territorial defense units instead of its elite 95th Airborne Assault Brigade. This indicates that the Ukrainian army is weakening.

Currently, Russian airborne forces are located several kilometers from the city of Sudja. They have managed to break through Ukrainian defenses in the area of Mala Loknya and Russkoye Porechnoye villages.

Ukraine is striking Russian territories with drones

The Ukrainian army continues to attack important Russian infrastructure using drones.

On the night of March 8, the "Kirishinefteorgsintez" oil refinery in Leningrad region was attacked by drones.

According to regional governor Alexander Drozdenko, the Russian air defense system shot down the first drone approaching the plant, while the second drone was destroyed over the plant area.

Drone debris damaged the exterior of a tank, but no one was injured.

“The drone attack on the Kirishineft plant was repelled. There are no casualties,” Drozdenko said.

Ukrainian drones attacked various regions of Russia

Rostov region: On the night of March 8, the Russian air defense system shot down Ukrainian drones in Millerovo and Chertkovskiy districts.

Bryansk region: 6 reactive drones attacked the city of Starodub. According to local governor Alexander Bogomaz, one woman was injured.

A fire broke out at a local enterprise, necessitating the evacuation of nearby residents.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, on the night of March 8, 43 Ukrainian army drones were shot down. This includes:

21 drones in Krasnodar region,
9 drones in Bryansk region,
4 drones in Rostov region,
2 drones in Belgorod region,
1 drone in Kursk region.
Additionally, 6 drones were destroyed over the Sea of Azov.

Ukraine is attacking Russian gas platforms with a new type of drone-catamaran

The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked Russian gas extraction facilities using a new type of drone-catamaran called "Katran-Venom".

According to former military pilot Ilya Tumanov, this battle occurred live during an online broadcast. The Russian Navy actively defended the facility.

According to Tumanov, the "Katran-Venom" is 9 meters long and can carry several small drones or two torpedoes. It is controlled via Starlink and could pose a serious threat to Russian military infrastructure.
