Pearl, a chicken living in Texas, has been recognized as the world's oldest living chicken. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
She turned 14 years old and was included in the Guinness World Records. Pearl hatched from an egg in an incubator on March 13, 2011.
According to her owner Sonya Hall, the typical lifespan of this breed is between 5 and 8 years, so Pearl has surpassed all expectations. Currently, Pearl has some difficulty walking independently, so she spends most of her time in the family's laundry room.
Sometimes she is taken to a hotel because she enjoys watching television. Pearl also likes other pets, especially an old cat and a small kitten that sleeps on top of it.
On May 22, the Guinness World Records officially confirmed Pearl's age and declared her the oldest living chicken in the world. Interestingly, right after this announcement, Pearl laid an egg.
Usually, she lays very few eggs. Additionally, another chicken from Canada has also been included in the Guinness World Records for recognizing numbers, letters, and colors.
This situation is bringing new perspectives on the intelligence and abilities of chickens.
