According to Deutsche Welle, citing an unnamed high-ranking NATO official, 250,000 Russian military personnel have been killed in the war against Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war, the total number of losses suffered by the Russian army has exceeded 900,000.
According to the official, Russia is losing an average of more than 1,000 military personnel every day (including both killed and wounded). Most of the wounded have become disabled due to inadequate medical care.
This information was announced during the meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels. At the same time, a NATO representative emphasized that the Russian army is managing to replenish its losses in the short term, but the pace of operations in Ukraine has slowed down.
NATO states that the Russian government is demonstrating a willingness to advance slowly at the cost of significant losses. However, Russian society is currently not ready to express mass discontent over the number of casualties at this level.
The number of Russian soldiers personally identified as killed through online obituaries and open sources has exceeded 100,000. Among them, 4,842 are officers. The highest losses have been recorded in Bashkortostan — 4,487 people. Following that are Tatarstan (4,371) and Sverdlovsk region (3,446).
