A mass anti-immigration protest took place in London, the capital of the United Kingdom. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to police data, more than 110,000 citizens participated in this protest. The demonstration was organized under the slogan "Unite the Kingdom" and began following the killing of Charlie Kirk, a popular blogger and right-wing populist in the USA.
The protest was led by political activist Tommy Robinson. Robinson emphasized the necessity of patriotism and strengthening borders in the country.
At the same time, the "Fight Against Racism" organization held a counter-protest. Approximately 5,000 people participated in it.
The police attempted to determine the exact number of protesters using video surveillance and helicopter footage. During the protest, some participants caused disturbances.
There were attacks on police officers, and protesters tried to break through the cordon. They also threw various objects.
In response, police forces took swift measures to prevent the escalation of disorder. Home Secretary Suella Braverman strongly criticized those who attacked the police and emphasized that they would be held accountable before the law.
She noted that the right to peaceful protest is important for the country's democracy. Technology magnate Elon Musk participated in the protest via videoconference.
He expressed the need for political changes in the United Kingdom, proposing the dissolution of parliament and holding new elections. His views were sharply criticized in political circles.
Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey stated that Musk's interests were personal. According to The Guardian, brief clashes occurred between "Unite the Kingdom" participants and opposing groups during the protest.
The police brought the situation under control, separated the participants, and escorted them to a safe area. Overall, the protest ended without major disturbances.
