Internet connectivity is restricted in several regions of Afghanistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In particular, due to the complete ban on optical fiber internet services in Balkh province, government offices and private sector organizations have been disconnected from Wi-Fi networks. This was announced by the provincial government representative Hoji Attaulla Zayd.
The leader of the "Taliban" movement, Heybatullah Akhunzada, decided to ban optical fiber internet in Balkh province to prevent immorality. As a result, Wi-Fi networks in government offices, private enterprises, and residential areas in the province have stopped working.
Currently, the population can only access the internet through mobile communication networks. This may cause difficulties for local residents and business activities.
The provincial representative stated that an alternative internet network is being planned to meet the needs of the population and businesses. However, there is no clear information yet about the imposition of restrictions in other provinces.
According to the Afghanistan International publication based in London, internet services are also restricted in Kandahar, Uruzgan, Helmand, and Nimroz provinces besides Balkh. This situation is causing concern and questions among the local population.
Experts believe that such restrictions require a reassessment of activities in the internet and digital communication sector, as well as the creation of new opportunities to meet the needs of the population. Therefore, necessary measures are expected to be taken to ensure the stability of internet services in the regions.
