Turkey has canceled its plan to introduce strict regulations on kebab preparation in the European Union. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
If these regulations had been adopted, specific aspects such as the type of meat, slice thickness, and marinating procedures would have been clearly defined. This decision became significant for the widely spread kebab industry in Germany.
The reason is that German-style kebab differs from the traditional Turkish method, being prepared with various vegetables and sauces. The German government and producers opposed this initiative.
Former minister Cem Özdemir emphasized that kebab is an integral part of German cuisine. Additionally, the Turkey Kebab Federation officially withdrew its application on September 23.
Representatives of the European Commission stated that the rejection of the initiative was expected. This situation allowed the preservation of various styles in kebab preparation.
As a result, the production of different types of kebabs will continue in local and international markets. This decision plays an important role in preserving the diversity of culinary culture.
Moreover, it creates more choices for consumers. Cooperation and cultural exchange between Turkey and Germany will be further strengthened.
Overall, freedom and creativity in the kebab industry will be maintained. This will have a positive impact on the development of the sector.
