In China, a buyer who was examining the new iPhone 17 Pro in a store accidentally dropped it and paid a fine for it. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The incident occurred not in an official Apple store, but at a private retail outlet. According to witnesses, when the man tried to put the device back on the stand, the phone fell onto the table from a height of about five centimeters.
As a result, a small dent appeared on the smartphone’s body. Store employees considered this damage to the product and fined the buyer 200 yuan, approximately 27 dollars.
Although the man emphasized that the incident was unintentional, the store management insisted on receiving the payment. This event sparked widespread discussions on social media.
Technology blogger Romansev pointed out that the most important thing is that this happened not in an official Apple store, but at a private retail point. He believes it is wrong to accuse Apple of greed, but such cases may affect the number of customers.
In September 2025, Apple introduced the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and Pro Max models. The new flagships feature a unibody metal case made of aluminum instead of titanium used previously.
This material has sparked mixed opinions among users. Some praise it for being lightweight and cool to the touch, while others complain about its susceptibility to scratches and deformation.
Early buyers wrote on social media that when using the smartphone without a case, the body quickly shows marks. This raised questions about the durability of the aluminum case.
In the Chinese market, stores keep smartphones in special display systems and require buyers to be careful. Nevertheless, if a buyer accidentally damages store property, they are held financially responsible.
Experts believe that this incident will not reduce interest in Apple products, but stores may be forced to reconsider their attitude towards customers. Thus, the new iPhone 17 has sparked discussions not only about technology but also about store culture and user responsibility.
