More than 460 Jewish scholars, politicians, and cultural figures active worldwide have sent an open appeal to the United Nations and the international community, calling for strict sanctions against the Israeli government. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
They described the actions in the occupied Palestinian territories as conscience-shocking and genocidal. The appeal emphasized that Israel's activities in Gaza, the West Bank, and East Jerusalem violate international legal norms.
“Our solidarity with Palestinians is not a betrayal of Judaism; on the contrary, it is an expression of humanitarian principles. We will not achieve peace until oppression ends and the policies of occupation and apartheid are dismantled,” the statement reads.
Among the signatories are notable figures such as former Speaker of the Israeli Parliament Avraham Burg, former member of the peace negotiation delegation Daniel Levy, director Jonathan Glazer, actor Wallace Shawn, writer Michael Rosen, author Naomi Klein, as well as Pulitzer Prize winner Benjamin Moser. According to researchers, in the ongoing war over the past two years, at least 68,000 Palestinians have died, including hundreds of children and women.
It was noted that Israeli attacks continued even after the ceasefire announced on October 10. According to United Nations reports, violence has intensified in the West Bank.
In 2025, more than 3,200 Palestinians were attacked by residents of Jewish settlements. The organization “Save the Children” confirmed a sharp increase in child deaths.
Scientists from the University of London described Israel’s actions in Gaza as a war amounting to genocide. They emphasized that no conflict in the 21st century has resulted in such a high percentage of the population being killed.
Over the past two years, the Israeli government's actions have been sharply criticized even within the Jewish community. The organizations “B’Tselem” and “Physicians for Human Rights” accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of genocide.
In a survey by “The Washington Post,” 61 percent of Jews in the United States consider Israel’s actions in Gaza to be war crimes, and 39 percent labeled them as genocide. The authors call on the international community to impose sanctions against Israel, stop arms deliveries, and restore the peace process.
They stressed that respect for human life must remain one of the fundamental values of Judaism.
