A joint project is being implemented between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to restore the textile industry in Afghanistan. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Within the framework of this program, possibilities are being explored to transfer the production capacities of some textile enterprises that have ceased operations in Uzbekistan to Afghanistan. The legal basis for the cooperation is established by a memorandum signed between the Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Afghanistan’s state enterprise “Afghan Textile Corporation.”
In October, a delegation of Uzbek specialists conducted a technical audit of factories in Parwan, Kandahar, Balkh, and Baghlan provinces of Afghanistan, as well as sewing workshops in Kabul. During the visit, the current condition of buildings, equipment, and infrastructure was assessed, and technical-economic data was collected.
This information will serve as a basis for developing proposals to restore and restart the factories. This initiative is expected to create new jobs and strengthen economic ties between the two countries.
This process is being carried out as part of broader efforts aimed at deepening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Additionally, the recently established joint logistics enterprise in Kabul, involving companies from both countries, is recognized as one of the practical outcomes of this cooperation.
