The US President's special envoy, Dan Driscoll, is conducting negotiations with Russian representatives in Abu Dhabi. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Politico, the main topic of the meeting is the ceasefire and peace program proposed by Donald Trump. Driscoll arrived in Abu Dhabi on November 24 and another meeting is planned for today.
In these negotiations, Dan Driscoll is participating as the sole high-ranking representative expressing the US position. This is because other US representatives who took part in talks with Ukrainians in Geneva have returned to Washington.
Driscoll is negotiating with the Russian delegation based on a new 19-point peace plan. This plan has been revised based on objections and proposals received from Ukraine.
According to media reports, several controversial points have been removed from the new version of the plan. Among them are demands to reduce the number of Ukrainian armed forces and full amnesty for actions during the conflict.
Additionally, due to resistance from the European Union, the clause about directing $100 billion from Russia's frozen assets to Ukraine's reconstruction has also been removed from the plan. Territorial issues have been left as a separate topic for dialogue between Trump and Zelensky.
Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security Council of Ukraine, announced that the US and Ukraine have reached a general agreement on the new plan during the Geneva talks. At the same time, the Russian side has not yet been officially informed about this plan.
Kremlin representative Dmitry Peskov emphasized that he considered the initial 28-point plan a good basis for negotiations.
