
Severe floods and landslides caused by heavy rains on the Indonesian island of Sumatra have resulted in significant damage. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Reuters agency, 174 people have died as a result of this natural disaster. According to the Indonesian Disaster Management Agency, hundreds of people are missing.
The Jakarta Post newspaper reported that nearly 100 people are still unaccounted for. Due to the disaster, electricity and communication services have been disrupted in some areas.
In recent days, heavy rains and floods have affected not only Indonesia but also other countries in Southeast Asia. According to Tribun News, 145 people have died in Thailand, most of whom lived in Songkhla province.
In Sri Lanka, 56 people have died and another 21 are missing. In Malaysia, water levels have risen by 60–100 cm, and more than 21,000 residents have been relocated to safe areas.
Local governments and international organizations continue to provide assistance to those affected by the natural disaster, search for the missing, and carry out recovery efforts.
