Recently, a humorous yet serious issue has been discussed on the internet: some people have found a way to get refunds from the DoorDash platform by deliberately altering photos of delivered food using artificial intelligence. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In this case, the appearance of the food is worsened through artificial intelligence programs. For example, in a widely circulated photo, the original appearance of a burger is compared with an AI-altered version.
In the original photo, the burger looks normal, while in the altered image, it appears burnt or undercooked. Some customers contact DoorDash with complaints such as "poor quality," "undercooked food," or "not as ordered," and get their money refunded.
As this issue became widespread, DoorDash launched its own artificial intelligence system to address the problem. The company is trying to use AI to verify the authenticity of photos and determine whether the food is damaged or artificially altered.
Thus, a real "AI race" has begun between DoorDash and its customers. While customers use artificial intelligence to deceive, DoorDash is trying to detect it.
However, the biggest beneficiaries in this process are the companies developing artificial intelligence programs. Both sides are forced to use additional technologies to gain an advantage in the competition.
While the introduction of artificial intelligence into our lives has simplified work processes, it has also led to cases of manipulation and abuse. Delivery services like DoorDash will have to strengthen AI monitoring even more in the future to eliminate such problems.
Therefore, responsible use of AI is becoming one of the most important issues in the digital age.
