After the Taliban took power, former Afghan soldiers who migrated to the United Kingdom have expressed their desire to serve in the British Army. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Afghan Major Nur Aziz Ahmadzai announced that he has applied for himself and his former colleagues to be accepted into the British Army. Nur began his career at the age of 16 by joining the special police forces.
Later, he worked as an interpreter for British soldiers and transferred to the Afghan special forces. Additionally, Nur studied for two and a half years at a military academy in the United Kingdom and rose to the position of deputy commander of a special counter-terrorism unit in Afghanistan.
Since August 2021, Nur has been living in the United Kingdom. He and other Afghan soldiers were relocated to Britain because life in Afghanistan was dangerous.
They have been granted temporary shelter, but many still face housing problems. Only citizens of the country can apply to the British Army, which requires living in the country for at least five years.
Nevertheless, Nur and his former colleagues want to apply their military experience in the British Armed Forces. Negotiations with officials on this matter are currently underway.
