500 musical instruments were burned in Afghanistan

Restrictions on music in Afghanistan have once again taken a sharp turn. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to information from international organizations, representatives of the "Taliban" movement collected nearly 500 musical instruments from civilians in Parwan province and burned them publicly. A similar incident was observed in the neighboring Laghman province, where more than 100 musical instruments were destroyed.
According to reports broadcast by state television, the morality police have been carrying out this process for over a year. It has been revealed that among the destroyed items were accordions, drums, daf frames, karnays, and various other musical instruments.
This does not only mean the destruction of simple musical instruments but also the elimination of items belonging to the entire cultural environment. Since regaining power in 2021, the "Taliban" have imposed strict restrictions on music.
Performing music, playing it publicly, and broadcasting it are prohibited. In various regions, music-related activities have been brought under control, with reports of dozens of people being detained and thousands of musical instruments confiscated and destroyed.
Strict warnings are being issued against the use of music at weddings and hotels. There are various opinions surrounding this policy.
Some view it as an intensification of regulations, while others emphasize that the pressure on art and culture is harming the spiritual life of society. It is clear that the topic of music in Afghanistan will remain at the center of debates for a long time.
