New tension has arisen in relations between Trump and NATO

Relations between the US and its European allies are becoming increasingly complex. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
President Donald Trump has openly expressed serious grievances against NATO regarding the situation with Iran and the issue of Greenland. This cooling of relations within the North Atlantic Alliance and Washington's sharp statements are causing new concerns in international politics.
Following a meeting at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Donald Trump criticized the allies on his social media pages. In the President's view, NATO partners did not show sufficient solidarity when the US was left in a difficult situation regarding Iran.
In particular, the reluctance of European countries to take responsibility for ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz has angered Washington. Trump has once again brought the topic of Greenland to the agenda.
Calling the vast Arctic island a territory with a weak governance system, the President has increased pressure on allies regarding this matter. The plan to bring Greenland, which is considered Danish territory, under US control is being interpreted in various ways by the international community.
Trump emphasized that if the US is not more active in this region, the island could fall under the influence of Russia and China. In March, Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz led to a sharp rise in oil and gas prices on the global market.
At a time when energy security was at risk, the US had expected concrete military assistance from its allies. However, the cautious position of European countries has further chilled bilateral relations.
Although NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called the meeting an open dialogue, he did not hide the fact that there are disagreements within the alliance. He acknowledged that some European countries are not fully fulfilling the obligations they have undertaken.
Nevertheless, the possibility of the US withdrawing from the alliance is currently considered a complex political and legal process. The Danish government firmly rejects the idea of selling Greenland or incorporating it into the country.
Copenhagen warned Washington, stating that any aggressive action against territorial integrity would undermine the Western defense system. Despite this, NATO is taking new measures to strengthen its military presence in the Arctic.
It is currently unknown how this crisis of confidence between the US and NATO will end in the future. The geopolitical situation in the region remains extremely delicate and volatile.
The global security system is facing new challenges.
