In Kazakhstan, the retirement age for women is being increased gradually

In Kazakhstan, the process of gradually increasing the retirement age for women and equalizing it with that of men is ongoing. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was announced by Viktoriya Shegay, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the country. According to official data, in accordance with the legislation, the retirement age for women will be gradually raised to 63.
The ministry representative noted that this change is being implemented not only to ensure social justice but also to increase the amount of future pension payments. The longer a citizen is active in the pension savings system, the higher their future pension will be.
For this reason, the government is paying special attention to supporting the employment of older women. In particular, the "Silver Age" program has been launched to assist in employing experienced workers, providing employers with the opportunity to subsidize a portion of employees' salaries.
Currently, men in Kazakhstan are eligible to retire at 63, while women are eligible at 61. However, the process of increasing the retirement age for women has been temporarily suspended until the end of 2027.
Starting from 2028, this process will resume and will increase gradually each year. As a result, by 2031, the retirement age for both women and men will be set at the same level, which is 63.
These measures are considered an important step aimed at strengthening the financial stability of the country's pension system and ensuring the well-being of the population in the long term. Such measures taken by the state play a significant role in maintaining the position of experienced professionals in the labor market and providing them with social support.
