U.S. Justice Department Blocks Trump Tax Audit

A significant event has unfolded in the political arena of the United States, sparking widespread debate and intense discussion, as reported by Zamin.uz.
The U.S. Department of Justice has officially agreed to halt the audit of tax returns filed over the years by former President Donald Trump and members of his family by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
This controversial decision was reached as part of a settlement agreement to resolve a major lawsuit filed by the IRS against Trump, stemming from the alleged unlawful disclosure of his personal tax information to the media.
As a reminder, Trump had been seeking $10 billion in personal damages from the government through this lawsuit. According to reports from influential news networks, the Department of Justice had proposed a unique resolution to settle the litigation out of court.
Under this proposal, a special compensation fund totaling $1.8 billion would be established to provide financial support to Trump’s supporters who allegedly faced unlawful surveillance and pressure due to their political views during his previous administration.
Furthermore, in accordance with the settlement terms, the U.S. government, on behalf of the federal administration, would issue an official apology to Donald Trump.
However, no direct cash payments will be made to him. According to official documents published on the Department of Justice’s website, the government is fully withdrawing all previously filed tax-related claims against Trump.
Additionally, Trump will be completely barred from filing any future legal claims related to these matters.
As clarified by officials, this review applies only to past years’ reports, meaning that Trump and his family may still be subject to lawful audits of any future tax returns they file.
The government’s decision has been met with sharp criticism from Democratic Party representatives. In particular, leaders of the Congressional Tax Committee have denounced the move to declare Trump’s financial documents inadmissible as a clear case of systemic corruption and have strongly condemned the situation.
It is worth noting that Donald Trump has consistently refused to disclose his income and tax returns to the public, both during his initial presidential campaign and after assuming the presidency, citing ongoing long-term financial audits of his businesses as justification.
As a result, Trump has become one of the few leaders in the past fifty years of U.S. history to conceal his tax information.
