The number of electric cars in Uzbekistan is increasing
As of July 1, 2025, the number of registered electric cars in Uzbekistan reached 73,600 units. This was reported by Upl.uz.

This figure indicates the growing interest of the population in environmentally friendly transport. According to the National Statistics Committee, in the second quarter of this year, from April to June, 8,400 new electric cars were added to the country's vehicle fleet, representing a growth of 12.88 percent.

The regional distribution of electric cars is significantly uneven, with the capital city leading the way. Tashkent has 55,820 electric cars, which accounts for 75.8 percent of the total number of cars in the country.

Although the capital's share decreased slightly in the last quarter, its overall growth was 12.25 percent. Other regions showed less but stable growth.

In Tashkent region, there are 5,262 electric cars, which is ten times less than the capital's figure. However, the growth rate in the region reached 16.62 percent, exceeding that of the capital.

Additionally, 2,075 (+19.32%) electric cars have been registered in Samarkand region, 1,659 (+17.24%) in Khorezm, and 1,519 (+13.53%) in Kashkadarya region. The increase in the number of electric cars is mainly related to active imports.

In the first six months of 2025, 14,350 electric vehicles were imported into Uzbekistan. This figure accounts for more than half of the total vehicle imports.

In particular, in June, the import of electric cars amounted to 4,567 units, making up 76 percent of the monthly imports. The main supplier is the People's Republic of China.

Along with the growth of the vehicle fleet, the necessary infrastructure is also developing. According to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in the past year, the number of electric charging stations has increased by 2.5 times, reaching 1,399.

In Tashkent, their number has nearly tripled, reaching 820. Thus, approximately 70 percent of all charging stations in the country are located in the capital and Tashkent region, serving about 92,000 users.

The rapid popularity of electric cars in Uzbekistan is mainly related to the competitive prices and modern technologies of Chinese brands like BYD. This is helping to further reduce car prices by ensuring the production of several popular models at the BYD Uzbekistan Factory in Jizzakh region.
