Samsung Display is now looking to implement the Tandem OLED technology used in the iPad Pro 2024 into displays designed for cars, according to Pepelac News. According to South Korean sources, the company is not only adapting OLED technology for the automotive sector but is also expanding its production capacity.
Previously, Samsung had supplied Tandem OLED displays to Audi cars in limited quantities. Now, as demand increases, especially in the premium car market, the company aims to take a leading position in this segment. Notably, this technology is also being used in the new Apple iPad Pro models.
Tandem OLED features a two-layer RGB structure, unlike regular OLED. This technology enhances display brightness, saves energy, and extends screen lifespan. These characteristics are particularly important for cars, as visibility in sunlight and durability are required.
Samsung is also developing flexible Tandem OLED displays aimed at premium car manufacturers. This could significantly change the design and functionality of car interiors.
