A sentence was issued for a drug-related crime in Novomoskovsk
The Novomoskovsk city court issued a verdict in a criminal case involving two citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This was reported by Upl.uz. A 24-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were found guilty of attempting to sell illegal drugs as part of an organized group. According to the court case, in the fall of 2024, the defendants, as members of a criminal group, established six hideouts in Novomoskovsk city, where they created a network for selling drugs. During the investigation, it was revealed that the man intended to purchase and distribute a large quantity of prohibited substances. The criminal activity was halted as a result of operational-search activities by local law enforcement agencies. During the operation, over 49 grams of drugs were seized from illegal circulation. Taking into account the circumstances of the case, the court sentenced the woman to eight and a half years, while the man received a twelve and a half year sentence in a strict regime colony. The difference in sentences reflects each individual's level of involvement in the crime. In Russia, strict regime colonies are intended for men who have committed serious crimes and repeat offenders. Many drug couriers are recruited by employers through social networks and messengers, promising quick and high income for little work. Such couriers are often caught in the early weeks of their illegal activities.

The law on the registration of animals comes into force
Starting from August 2026, a new law will come into force in Uzbekistan, which states that all owners of domestic and agricultural animals are required to register their animals. This was reported by Upl.uz. The main goal of this law is to create a unified electronic database to ensure effective monitoring and tracking of animals. Identification of animals will be carried out using visual tags, microchips, or mixed identifiers. Each animal will be assigned a unique alphanumeric code. All information about the animal and its owner will be entered into a unified electronic system. This information includes the owner's full name, tax identification number, address, and phone number, as well as information about the animal's origin, movements, medical examinations, date of birth, importation, slaughter, or export. Each animal will be assigned a unique number reflecting its age, gender, color, and breed. The accounting will be conducted in real-time through an electronic system managed by a special center under the Committee for Veterinary and Livestock Development. The law specifies the deadlines for the identification and registration of animals: cattle, sheep, goats, and camels must be registered within 14 days after birth; horses within 4 months; pigs within 1 month; and dogs and cats within 3 months. Animals imported from abroad must be registered within 21 days after entering the country. Keeping and breeding unregistered and unidentifiable animals is prohibited. If an animal dies, is slaughtered, or exported, it must be removed from the register within 7 days. The costs of identification and registration will be covered by the animal owners themselves, charitable funds, or the state budget. The law will officially come into force on August 7, 2026, while some provisions will be implemented for animal owners starting from January 1, 2028

Smart water meters in Tashkent were warned about fraud
Smart water meters in Tashkent were warned about fraud
The installation of new smart water meters has begun in Tashkent city, and fraudsters are trying to take advantage of this situation. This was reported by Upl.uz. The "Tashkent City Water Supply" company issued a warning to the public about a new fraud scheme. Fraudsters contact people via phone or SMS, asking for confirmation codes to install the meter. In fact, this method is used to gain access to your bank cards and steal money. According to the "Tashkent City Water Supply" company, the installation of new meters is carried out free of charge and is only applicable to consumers who have signed a contract with the company. Work is carried out according to a strictly defined schedule, and the public is informed in advance through neighborhood meetings. Additionally, the service organization does not make any phone calls or send SMS messages. Online applications or the entry of confirmation codes are not required. Such requests are considered a trick by fraudsters. We advise the public never to provide codes received via SMS from unknown individuals. These codes may be used to steal your funds. The installation of equipment is being carried out within the framework of the "Transformation of Tashkent City's Water Supply and Sewerage System" project, in collaboration with the French company Suez. Modern smart meters are equipped with a radio module that automatically transmits information about water consumption, detects water leaks, and unauthorized interventions. This system increases the efficiency of water supply, reduces water loss, and simplifies the process of obtaining readings. The first devices have started to be installed in the Yangihayot district and will be distributed throughout the city in the near future. This will make public services more transparent and convenient for the population.
