Veteran CSKA player Dmitriy Xomuha shared his thoughts on the draw match against the "Orenburg" team and Abbosbek Fayzullaev's transfer to the "Istanbul" club in an exclusive interview with "Evro-Futbol.Ru". This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, the game between CSKA and "Orenburg" was as complicated as expected. Last year, "Orenburg" managed to take points from "Spartak" in the first round, and this year they added points to their tally as well.
The size of the pitch differs from the traditional one, and its synthetic surface poses challenges for the teams. Therefore, this match will be difficult for any team.
Xomuha emphasized that the level of play is not always important, as the strength of the teams shows itself over long distances. Now, with the championship starting, any team can show unexpected results.
In the interview, he pointed out the failure to score as the reason why CSKA could not achieve victory. The "Orenburg" players showed resilience in defense, and the goalkeeper performed particularly well in the final minutes of the game.
CSKA's playing style has changed to a more vertical approach, trying to organize quick attacks after gaining possession of the ball. However, the forwards are not fast enough.
For this reason, the team needs a high-level striker. When talking about Fayzullaev's transfer to "Istanbul", he noted that he was sold for a good amount.
If CSKA bought him for 500 thousand euros, now he has been sold for 7.5 million euros, which is considered a good transfer. He also mentioned that Fayzullaev was exactly the player missing in the game against "Orenburg".
He would have been more effective than Danil Krugovoy as a wing forward. In response to the question of whether the CSKA team needs strengthening, he noted that the central forward position is the most urgent, while there are no serious problems in other positions.
He emphasized that a forward would help the team in the championship fight. The draw with "Orenburg" does not diminish CSKA's confidence in the fight for gold medals, as this was the first game of the championship, and it is premature to draw conclusions.
