The Russian Ministry of Sports is planning to tighten the restrictions on the number of legionnaires in the Russian Premier League. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to the Telegram channel "Insaydlar Karptan," the ministry supports the "10+5" formula. According to this formula, the number of legionnaires included in the season application should not exceed a maximum of 10, and there should be a maximum of 5 legionnaires on the field at the same time in one team.
Additionally, the "10+6" limit is also being considered as a middle option. The "10+7" limit is less likely to be implemented.
According to the source, these changes may be adopted by the end of 2025. The new restrictions are not unlikely to come into effect from the next season.
Currently, the "13+8" formula is in effect for legionnaires in the Russian Premier League. These numbers define the number of legionnaires in the teams' rosters and the rules for their usage.
The new rules aim to further regulate the participation of players on the field. This will serve to improve the quality of teams and the league.
