The chairman of the board of directors of Moscow's "Dinamo" club, Dmitriy Gafin, expressed his opinion that the number of legionnaires in the clubs of the Russian Professional Football League can be reduced naturally. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
According to him, it is necessary to first develop children's and youth sports. This will increase the number of quality local players, and clubs will not feel the need to rely heavily on foreign players.
According to the current regulations, each club can have 13 legionnaires on its roster, and eight of them can play on the field at the same time. The Russian Ministry of Sports plans to further reduce the number of legionnaires in the future.
It is proposed that the number of legionnaires on the roster be limited to ten, and the number of legionnaires on the field to six. This measure aims to support local players and improve the quality of national football.
Additionally, such restrictions will encourage clubs and teams to focus more on developing their players. As a result, the country's football will develop sustainably, and more opportunities will be created for young talents.
