Former referee Igor Fedotov, who officiated matches in the Russian Premier League, commented on the penalty awarded to Zenit in the match against CSKA. This was reported by Euro-football.ru.
Thanks to this penalty, the St. Petersburg team was able to equalize the score. The penalty kick was accurately executed by Aleksandr Sobolev.
According to Fedotov, there was physical contact between the players on the field. There is no need to debate how serious it was, as the referee decided to award a penalty kick from 11 meters.
In his opinion, Krugovoy acted carelessly and collided with Mantua's leg from behind. Referee Artur Chistyakov saw this situation from close range and made the correct decision.
For this reason, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) did not intervene in this situation. Fedotov also emphasized that he has no objections to referee Chistyakov.
According to him, the referee assessed the situation as he saw it. The match between Zenit and CSKA ended in a 1:1 draw.
Both teams have collected five points after three games in the new season.
